In February, we hosted Sasha Duerr and her textile class from CCA.
We started off our morning with Heather giving an overview of the wool book, then moved onto getting our hands dirty sheet mulching and planting native Toyon and Coffeeberry along a seasonal creek on the farm. We had the dye pots going with clippings from these shrubs, as well as oak gall and some of our dried marigold from last season. We used some sample pieces of Fibershed's climate beneficial wool, which took the color really well and turned out beautifully! Thanks so much to Sasha and Rosa for making the trek out to visit, and if you haven't seen Sasha's new book, Natural Color: Vibrant plant dye projects for your home and wardrobe, we highly recommend owning it, it's filled with stunning photos and inspiring projects to try. www.sashaduerr.com/books/
