Indigo Day at Red Twig Farm in Lagunitas September 29th, 2018 10am-2pm
Experience the transformation of indigo-from lush plants to a stunning botanical blue dye on cloth. You’ll learn some of the fascinating history of natural indigo, then see for yourself the remarkable process by which blue color is coaxed from the green leaves. We’ll use freshly harvested leaves for direct dyeing on silk, then prepare a dye bath for sampling patterns on cotton cloth.
Cost is $80, and includes a silk scarf and organic cotton cloth for sampling. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the farm.
Additionally, you may bring along one small personal item for dyeing (pre- washed) made of natural fiber. Items such as napkins, scarves, tote bags, or pillow cases are ideal.

My daughter and I went to a dye workshop attended by all Mother/Daughter teams. It was a wonderful afternoon getting our hands dirty and experiencing the beauty of natural dyes and we even got to take home our handiwork. Gina and Heather organized a terrific day with education and fun combined. Delightful to share this experience. —Deborah Fitzpatrick
